The Writing Doesn't Make Sense

There are several problems with the Georgia Guidestones besides their official, misguided advices:

Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.

If this reads as a total count of individual humans on the entire planet, 500 million, it is certainly in line with the depopulation philosophers like The Club of Rome. The author, R.C. Christian, claims to have told a collaborator that in his research that was the comfortable figure that would permit every person to have a good life. There certainly isn't any research or citation provided, and the round number is still far too big to make an accurate census anyway, so it seems to be something that could inspire conflict.

It all depends on how you look at the stones, and their words. Yet, I do think it's important to consider the annoyance such "guidance" does give people. We have been told by supremacists over and over that population control is the key to human happiness, rather than other approaches.

Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.

"Guiding reproduction" and "fitness" are so ambiguous that they could be read as eugenics or something much more benevolent and trusting of the Creator (and Creation). The trouble is that this advice reads as very Machiavellian in the face of a dearth of specifics and context.

Unite humanity with a living new language.

Why should there be some new language? What is the purpose of suggesting a language must be explicitly crafted? Doesn't this basically ignore the cultural origins of language, and their important connections to holistic being? And if the language is not to be invented, if it's just that the language emerges as "new" to someone, to whom is the language new?

Rule passion — faith — tradition — and all things with tempered reason.

Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.

To rule with reason is not any sort of advice at all, except to rule. If anything, this being etched in stone seems like little more than the invitation for a corrupt ruler to claim they are following some reason. Besides the idea that the word "courts" is loaded with colonialism in the English version, again we have the idea pushed that something should be made fair by the judgement of whomever claims to adopt these advices. It could be seen here as a declaration that the author(s) of the advice consider themselves to be fair and to rule with tempered reason. Yet, that doesn't make any of their other statements sound reasonable.

Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.

Saying there needs to be a particular court of some kind is weird enough, but to also say there needs to be a world court is very eerie.

Avoid petty laws and useless officials.

Balance personal rights with social duties.

Again. Rule this, rule that, make laws, don't make bad laws, be reasonable, temper everything — it is all the most vague advice imaginable besides plainly writing in so many words: be reasonable. Who decides what is reasonable? Is it wise to require stones with written commands? That seems pretty unreasonable.

Prize truth — beauty — love — seeking harmony with the infinite.

"Prize truth" is a fine value, except that the author did not see it fit to include the truth of the authorship of the stones. So how can their words be considered an accurate representation of who they are? Or even who they claim they think they are?

Beauty is also lacking in the design and the wording of the whole piece, so it seems a strange request from an anonymous stranger or group of strangers.

Be not a cancer on the Earth — Leave room for nature — Leave room for nature.

Cancer is assumed to be some kind of universally understood disease that will last through the time the stones seem to be imagining they will stand for. Yet, if cancer is nothing more than acidosis, and this can be treated with proper diet, why not remind future humans about good foods? Why imply that cancer will be a relatable problem forever? Why even say that humans are capable of embodying as something totally abhorrent to the time the stones were written (presumably 1979)?

Of course if you murder billions of people or don't make things sustainable, you will be making room for nature. Yet, that has already been identified as the conservation message. So why can't a more detailed explanation of the problem be laid out? The creators of the stone monument made a massive investment but they couldn't have spent a little time thinking more equitably about future generations they are addressing? It's absurd and it smacks of a particular crisis that needn't have been encoded as something that would even be relevant beyond the mind of the authors, as they were forty years ago.

Empire has claimed to be just and fair as it killed nations, killed languages, killed cultures, attempted to kill more, rounded up people for slaughter, for slavery, for wanton destruction of innocent children, women and men the world over; so seeing English words using its own "maintain", "rule", "guide", "fitness" and "disputes" smacks of a monument to white guilt, with even more bad advice thrown on top of the unresolved trauma inflicted by privilege, secrets and conspiracies.


Making Light of a Conspiracy

It has been pointed out that the alleged author:

Intent on recreating a Bavarian Illuminati letter in the same manner as such forerunners as Mord, Mal-2 and Lord Omar, Floyd took it even further back old school by purchasing a yellowish orange vintage typewriter on which to perform his mindfuck.

The target of Floyd’s OM missive in this instance was one R.C. Christian of Georgia Guidestones fame. For those unfamiliar with the Guidestones, refer to staff member Groucho Gandhi’s primer on the subject here.

The inspiration for Floyd’s letter was the recent appearance of a six-sided cube at the Guidestones with 2014 engraved on it, a mystery discussed on a recent edition of Greg Carlwood’s The Higherside Chats with Jay Weidner.

In his letter, Floyd (aka Creepy) makes reference to an “Untarnished Conspiracy,” a phrase that’s an apparent nod and wink to a monument located at the Guidestones that indicates the author is the aforementioned “R.C. Christian (A Pseudonyn)”, which is certainly peculiar because “Pseudonym” appears to be intentionally misspelled and “R.C. Christian (A Pseudonyn)” is an anagram for Untarnished Conspiracy.

Please understand that the above article is basically an admission of the deliberate "artistic" pursuit of a prankster Floyd to point out the creepy activities of the Georgia Guidestones, as well as draw attention to various other concepts and ideas they find apparently amusing (useful?).

Still, despite the fun and joy of seeding chaos at an apparently tight organization, it doesn't really do much except point out the humor of the thing. We still don't see the organization behind the Georgia Guidestones fully exposed.

The Creators Exposed (a little)

According to the documentary Dark Clouds Over Elberton, a Mr. Joe Fendley was running a high quality quarry where the anonymous representative Mr. "R. C. Christian" aka "Robert Christian" aka ? came to say he wanted to buy the stones to erect the monument. He asked Mr. Fendley where he banked and Fendley told him both banks in town at the time. Christian is reported to have conveyed, "We will establish a bank account in my name and fund the monument through that account."

Joe Fendley had to be sure the stranger could afford the massive undertaking. So Fendley sent Christian to see the bank president of Granite City Bank, Wyatt Martin. Martin said it could be done. The documentary heavily implied that Martin took Christian to a monument (erected in town in 1976 just a few years prior) by the Masonic temple and said, "I think you can see from this we have skilled people here who can do anything that you want to do with stone."

The Guidestones exist in Elberton, Georgia, which is a town known for displaying many of its fine granite constructions. It is also harboring a Confederate statue. When it was uncovered, it was sprayed down and apparently restored as a historic piece. This isn't to imply the lasting attitude of the place is all Confederate and slaver sympathizers. However, the "rich history" is certainly able to cultivate a bad atmosphere. Specifically, for these odd spooky stones, it seems rife.

Regarding a contemporary of the Confederate leader, Georgia U.S. Representative Wiley Thompson:

He became an Indian agent to the Seminoles and was appointed in 1834 to superintend the removal of the Seminoles from Florida. This episode of his life was artistically described by Thomas Mayne Reid in the 1858 novel Osceola. Thompson was subsequently killed by a band of Seminoles led by Osceola at Fort King, Florida, on December 28, 1835, and was buried on his estate in Elberton.

The atmosphere and attitude has the heavy feeling of naivete and layered, buried trauma that the tradition of Masonry carries with it wherever it goes. It's almost as if the people involved in making the Georgia Guidestones a reality were actually nervous about being exposed, and existed in that spooky place white people go when they don't talk about what evil they are about to commit together. The air of unspoken conspiracy of wealthy old white men has a very negative history on this continent. It's the air of supremacy, which is associated with Christian evils, Nazism from the old world, with eugenics of the same, and with the genocide of countless people of indigenous life and of color that the culture perpetuates without explicitly announcing these attitudes as often as they are acted upon.

According to Martin, he agreed he would help him move the funds to the graniters, the granite workers, if he could know his name. Christian said he would give his true name provided he never reveal it. Martin agreed, and to this day Martin has honored that word. I am sure he cannot be faulted for keeping the secret. However, it is interesting that this is one of the few times in known recorded history that a conspiracy like it has been exposed and yet not pursued to its logical ends. Probably because it does not involve a crime of murder (only perhaps the vague advice of mass murder of humanity, which is for some reason seen as more acceptable by the law? Curious.).

Martin says the man is a true Christian and any community would be happy to have him as a citizen. (So Martin, another rich white man in traditional merchant industries like graniting and banking, claims. Since Martin only knows, we are not permitted by him to judge for ourselves.) Martin graciously told Christian he may just as well throw the money to the street and benefit people that way and Christian replied that Martin did not understand the concept of what was trying to be accomplished. Christian specifically said, "what I am trying to do," if we take Martin's words explicitly, which is interesting because Christian claimed to be representing an anonymous group but certainly seemed to be in creative control of the project.

Martin was asked to pick out places for the monument and he says he picked about five places. Martin managed to persuade Christian to place the monument in the more populated county and make it an attraction rather than just some wooded area in another county. The Coggins family, who has a long prosperous history in Elberton granite, offered their work on the monument through Coggins Industries. Frank Coggins was also a personal friend and some time employer of Fendley.

Congressman Barnard presented an outline of the plan to the local Rotary Club for some reason (not given in the documentary) and he received a piece of the 1983 art commissioned by a local artist:

The local artist seems to have caught on to the spirit of condescension, depicting both a mature and young cattle audience.

The President of Coggins Industries Mrs. Shirley McNeely retained records of private correspondence to Martin received from the so-called Mr. Christian. In a letter dated October, 1979 and signed R.C. Robert Christian, he (they?) requests specific alignments to the Sun's analemma after the construction to be more sure of the calculations. For someone so amateur about astronomical calculations (I wonder if different science might have done better) it doesn't seem to be the work of someone truly invested in cosmic understandings, as much as it seems someone interested in seeming connected to cosmic understandings. This is further suspicious when we take into consideration that there is a hole for the pole star to be visible. The problem is that in merely hundreds of years, Polaris is calculated by many civilizations to precess and no longer be in the hole that was to be made for the star.

It's almost as if the cosmos gave us a sign that the person building this monument was not very divinely inspired, and their vision was not very far reaching. Thank goodness to those spirits that helped guide us away from the guidestones, an apparent symbol of white male Christian hubris.


Mistakes and Omissions of the Guider

The letter above Mrs. Shirley McNeely kept (the best I transcribed so far) reads:

Dear Mr. Martin:
I am sorry to hear that the owner of the property which we
preferred may be having second thoughts about using it for
the Guidestone Monument.It would be very desirable in its
orientation to the sun. If the owner decides not to assist us
in our undertaking perhaps you could inquire about the field
immediately across the road to the north. It is fairly level,
but is also open, and commands a good, open horizon.

Your suggestion about not grading the site up with fill because
of unpredictable settling is a good one. We might be able to
accomplish the goal of a prominent site for the central stone
cluster by simply building a thicker reinforced slab on the
existing surface, perhaps over a 1 foot thickness of common
gravel surrounded by fill dirt. Then it would be possible at
a later date to complete an outer ring of secondary stones on
a lower level without moving nearly so much earth. I would be
willing to provide funds for an additional foot of concrete
in the foundation, making it 3 feet thick, and for the additional
fill of sand and scrap rock if Mr. Fendley would go along with
this modification. We could grade nearby dirt up to the
grade of the top of the foundation after the concrete had
hardened. This would eliminate excavation for the foundation,
but would raise the monument appreciably.

My consultant for the design of the notch in the capstone has
not yet completed his calculations. Elberton is near the west
edge of the Eastern Time Zone, so the analemma curve for true
noontime will be tilted off the vertical. It is possible that
we may have to mark the analemma curve after the monument is
erected on the basis of occasional observations throughout the
year and then sand-blast it into the stone with portable
equipment.

It might be appropriate to recognize the very valuable contributions
In this project which have been made by you and Mr. Fendley and
Mr. Doggins by installing a marker, or perhaps a bench near the
Parking area, engraved with your names and the date and hour of
Dedication of the monument. I would still hope that this could
Be the day and hour of the winter solstice, which will be in late
December this year when the sun starts to move north.

Some of the ideas in the inscriptions are for the next century.
Those which focus attention on population pressure are very
urgent. These points alone, in my humble opinion, justify the
monument, and make worthwhile the generous contributions of time
and thought which have been made by you three men in Georgia.

It would be perfectly agreeable to give the owner of the
desired site full grazing rights to the property for a
50 year period as an additional inducement for him to sell.
Or we could raise our offering price for one half the site
to double the original offer if he would then donate the
other half of the property to the Elbert County Foundation,
thus gaining some tax advantage. I am not very knowlegable
about such procedures. I hope that you can convince the
owner of the merit of the project, and of the value which it
may carry for society. I believe he would not regret being
a part of the cooperative effort which as already drawn
strangers together in an attempt to help humanity through
its coming time of trouble.

It is at least odd that the typo "knowlegable" omits a letter or two, right in a word that would benefit most from correctitude. The author of the stones doesn't seem knowledgeable about astronomy, about tax procedures (perhaps being wealthy and privileged and not feeling the need to learn), nor about the meaning of cooperative effort.

There is very little in a project that resembles "cooperation" when it's a wealthy anonymous benefactor of an even more secretive group, who fears identification, designing a monument to flaunt privilege and supposed knowledge of common good, humanity or anything resembling justice and fairness. The idea that money greasing wheels, inherent trustworthiness of white wealthy men to other white wealthy men, and appropriated spirituality is considered "cooperation" to this gaslighter is all the more reason not to follow any sort of advice from the so-called guidestones. I think Mr. Martin was right. There are ways money could be used that aren't as vain. For one, he may have been better off using the money to print an information packet to be distributed within Masonic temples the country over to remind rich white men to stop lording over the rest of humanity with their superiority and inferiority complexes, guilt of atrocious historic behavior and their related "art".

Sorry, Mr. Christians everywhere, but this kind of project does not redeem you. When you want to work in the light, come out in the light, and own up to the responsibility of earnest open communication, and maybe ask some people different from yourself what they think would be good guiding principles for your behavior some time, instead of constantly albatrossing your prideful, aloof White Man's Burden on humanity. The one-way "conversations" you conduct are tiresome.

Another letter of interest from Mr. Christian to Mr. Martin, dated September 7, 1979:

Dear Mr. Martin:

Please accept my thanks and appreciation for your hospitality on
my recent visit, and for your great help in making our project
a reality.

I am enclosing some drawings for Mr. Fendley and Mr. Coggins.
I do not know how much grading Mr. Coggins is prepared to underwrite
in preparing the site for the monument.

However, if we have an eye for the future and a desire to make
the entire appearance most appealing and most interesting, we
should place the central cluster of stones on a flattened conical
mound or low hill. If this is surrounded by an outer circle at
a distance of 60 to 75 feet (or 19 to 25 meters, since we are
using the metric system), and if the level of the outer circle
about 11 feet below the base of the engraved stones, an observer
standing on the central platform will be able to view sun and
moon risings and settings over the tops of stones which others
may later wish to add to the assembly with languages not included
in the initial 8. If any group feels left out the Elbert County
Foundation might welcome the contribution of others.
Even without other stones, the central group would be enhanced
by a location on such a site.

And if a rough contour map can be made of the sloping 5 acre
field, one might better judge how to locate the central group
in order to make this plan possible with a minimum of earth
moving. I believe from my visual inspection that earth would
be removed south of the parking area and saved south to build the
mound and part of the circle.

I have telephoned my astronomical consultant (not the one in
Colorado) and have been promised bearings for the sun stones
by next week. I can then provide you with the dimensions for
the capstone.

Please duplicate the instructions for translators which I wrote
out a few days ago, and provide them to those experts who are
working on the remaining translations. I believe it would be wise
to have the same instructions sent to Berlitz and have them re-check
the completed translations before they are engraved. We should
emphasize brevity, and attempt to keep the text below 100 words,
as it is in English. This may require some para-phrasing, but this
is permissable [sic]. If necessary, smaller letters can be used.

Berlitz is a global translation company, and it would be potentially interesting to know if they received correspondence from Mr. Christian's group as well. According to the documentary, the translations mostly came from the UN, and a Chinese individual translated the English to Mandarin.

This letter had to it attached some diagrams, which had in them some reference to land formations and hand drawings by Mr. Christian or some other draftsperson.

Mr. Coggins' idea at the time was to keep the Guidestones in Elberton in order to help promote international attention on the industry there. And that seems to have become accepted by the affiliation, including Mr. Christian. Mr. Fendley was friends (and lodge brothers in Masonry and the Shriners) with Mr. Wayne Mullenix, the owner of a construction company, who said to check out his land, and Mr. Christian was brought to the space. There, he said it would do.

He told Mr. Martin to deed it to the county because that would be the "longest lasting organization" in the whole country, the county government. This seems especially white supremacist given that the longest lasting organizations in the whole country are a great deal older and a great deal more indigenous than a 100-year old town of European colonizers.

Benevolent Pagans

For some reason, the guidestones attracted a number of rituals. It included witches and warlocks and they would come and have ceremony at the stones. They would leave markings on the stones as well, including pentacles in spray paint, which doesn't seem particularly respectful of the stones. So perhaps these are lightworkers and good people coming to counter-act the negative energy of the stones. Perhaps it is also a number of people practicing negative rites in celebration of the low feeling of the project. Perhaps deeding it to the county drew a number of good Wiccans and shaman who came to help "liberate" the land further from colonialism. It is really difficult to say what is going on, but the locals seem really confused by the lantern and candle lights at night and the messages left on the stones after they leave.

It's apparently been called the American Stonehenge by some, which seems a stretch (though since America is full of Barnum and Bailey ridiculousness, marketing and fakery, it's not too off the mark to call it American, at least). Some say a drain hole at the bottom of a slot in the stone has a creepy purpose based on old European practices of sacrifice. There was a scare for a time, started by a minister of the area, that a sacrifice was likely to take place because of its design. No sacrifice has even been reported, which is surprising given the media's temptation to lie about the most sensational and frightening subjects to get a rise out of people.


The Traumatized Author

In 1986 Mr. Christian explains further in his book called Common Sense Renewed that he has more to say to the world about the purpose of the stones. Bizarrely, the book was reportedly sent to every member of U.S. Congress as well as "several thousand political officials and shapers of public opinion throughout the world" according to the documentary at 40min 10sec, which cites the book The Georgia Guidestones: America's Most Mysterious Monument (Wiley and Prime). He was a fan of Thomas Paine, who wrote Common Sense, a call for the abolishment of religions.

He wrote that nuclear war was imminent (which isn't true at all if nuclear arms are a fiction created by hoaxy, secretive and supremacist drivers of empire) and his stones and book were a special pleading for rational discourse instead of world destruction. He sounds like a man riddled with wealth, sickness, and fear. He claims the faults we have caused in the environment and shortages for "high material living standards" could be solved by reducing the population. Again, a supremacist position not backed up a trial of open honest debate.

Although he does say populations in "squalor and ignorance" are an "evil that must not be tolerated", he himself seems to promote ignorance by not backing up his claims. As for squalor, which is defined by Google as "the state of being extremely dirty and unpleasant, especially as a result of poverty or neglect" we might say the stones themselves are rather unpleasant (even as monuments to hope can be). When he means to point out present world conditions of poverty, but he spends untold amounts of money to erect a monument to get attention on a white supremacist book to save the world with his method, it really does come across as a sad case of fear over the rational and tempered discourse he recommends. We must also ask if our goal is to inspire people and lift them up with an increase in Georgia Guidestone-like monuments, what would a world he's designing do to the human spirit? Would we be spared his definition of squalor to be placed in a totalitarian global empire that criminalizes certain definitions of reproduction, or even lifestyles?

I am not sure he has "spurious motives" but he does seem to be a rich person that is haunted by privilege and confused by what to do with it. That much I can relate to. I have also traveled to places around the world. I've been born with pale skin, I've been born with male features, I've been born in a mercantile empire built on stolen land, stolen goods and the suffering of countless oppressed people and peoples, and I am privileged with opportunities (very plural) when compared with most of the world. I am also relatively impoverished when compared with the richest of the world, as we in the "poorer" 99.[9999...?]% are.

In my spirit-weak, cynical, egotistical, majorly depressed early twenties, I pondered how joining the elitist science writers of popular journalism and popular media calling for population reduction could be part of some kind of revolution and solution. And I cried about the concept of how tragic it would be to be responsible for a dark science, a dark movement, of unilaterally giving people contraceptive drugs. And a world that would let them do it out of some misguided eugenic sense of "greater good".

But if I could afford (though I should not want to afford) the ability to create a big ugly imposing monument to such a global misstep, in global languages no less (Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Swahili, Spanish and English were the languages chosen), why would anyone just give up and commit to this project? Why would anyone make a shrine out of a lack of faith in the Creator's benevolence? And if fear of humanity alone were the reason (and not an additional supremacy complex and/or unchecked privilege), doesn't it make sense that the engagement people have made with the monument would have revealed a more open discussion with the author? I am not someone who considers themselves "better" or "above" anonymous work, but its value here for the monument seems to be to just increase attention and fear and wield power over billions using pure fear and dire admonition, without consequence and without open discussion.

If Dr. Kirsten, a Catholic who disagreed with the church's stance against sterilization and contraception, who believed that white people were "the superior race" and wanted to develop a concrete scientific measurement of such, was responsible for the monument's writings, it could be a motivation for why he did not want his monumental granite dark cry for help to be a public discussion. If it was not him, it's rather convenient and disturbing that the author(s) did not explicitly decry Dr. Kirsten or his supremacist friend William Shockley. The language of the monument is awfully close to Nazi views.

There is so much wrong with such a monument, and so much wrong with this monument. And it's worthwhile to call it out, discuss it and call for the responsibility of the authors to address present context, discuss truth openly, including the truth of their authorship. Yet now it's a gross thing and we can barely contextualize it through guessing and mystery just to prevent the weird cowardly culture that created it from feeling psychopathic justification for believing its premise.

The methods we employ in being creative and using the gifts of the Creator should assume good and hope of humanity, and hope to inspire, uplift and banish toxic fears borne of lies. Yes, leave room for nature. But also leave room for spirit. For humanity. Hope. Beauty. Communication. Even chance and auspicious events beyond our control. More stories than just anonymous un-accountable fears of humanity. As flawed and nasty as we can behave from trauma, we can also be much, much better than this.

The Georgia Guidestones have been destroyed.

Earlier this year, there was reportedly an explosion — even seen in security footage — collapsing one of the large slabs. Then, later a demolition company knocked the rest down.

I am not sure what to say about this. Although I am not in favor of censorship, I am not in favor of enormous commandments demanding vague actions that seem to endorse censorship. What happens when calls for censorship are censored? What does it all mean?

Maybe this particular case of destruction can be chalked up to "art criticism"?
